Thanks for reporting this bug! For some reason this model is labeled "iMic" instead of "Int Mic", so PulseAudio does not pick it up as a microphone input. I've sent a report upstream, and assuming it is merged, you should have a fixed version in https:/

This is a big help. Now, in gnome volume control, I have Line, Microphone 1 and Microphone 2 (the internal mic) as possible connectors. "External Microphone" and "Internal Microphone" would be easier, but this works. Thanks.

Would you mind telling me exactly which package I should install to test this? I looked at proposed, but didn't see the right kernel version. Perhaps I am not using aptitude correctly (which I very seldomly use). NOTE: I am using lucid, not maverick.
Thanks.

You should install the "linux" package, which contains the kernel. For instructions on how to enable the -proposed archive, see here:

Due to national holidays, the deadline for verification of fixes for the -proposed kernel has been extended thru Monday, November 15th.
If verification that this bug is fixed by the -proposed kernel has not occurred by that date, the change will be reverted and this bug will be set to incomplete.

I would add the gnome-alsamixer does not allow me to choose the input source (i.e., input source is just a check box in gnome-alsamixer and there is no way to attach an input source to a particular device).
