Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

My touchpad works, but it's not detected under System > Preferences > Mouse.

I followed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection and am now reporting this bug as a result.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu stable release(maverick ubuntu 10.10), this would help us a lot.

This has been fixed in 10.10, yes, but still present in 10.04.

This bug has reappeared in 11.04. I'm using an ASUS k53e with the elentech touchpad.

Running an asus k53e as well and this bug has shown up in Ubuntu 11.04 x64.

The good news however is that post #5 fixed it!
