Bug Description
This is a tracking bug with detailed analysis of a machine that has the symptom described. The system in question is a HP mini.
I will test with the following configurations:
1. Karmic fresh install no uupdates
2. Karmic fresh install with all updates
3. Lucid upgraded from karmic with all updates
4. Lucid fresh install with all updates
