Bug Description

- CD drive doesn't appear in Rhythmbox as well. Not better with audacious 2 or Totem. And this is true for my cd burner and my cd/dvd drive.

- I can read data cd

Additional information if it can help :
- I can't burn any cd (R or RW) with brasero.
-> After inserting an new CD-R in my cd burner, a CD icon appear on my desktop, but the "select disk" combo display "SLAX : not enough space available" (quoted text translated from French !)
-> Trying to blank a CD-RW result in the "select disk" combo of the "blank disk" panel, displaying "no disk available"

- For my hardware, all symptoms above are true as well for Karmic 32 bits, Lucid beta2 64bits, but not for Jaunty 32 bits.

- I can burn CD and extract audio files with K3b.

let me know if any more info could help resolving this issue.

Hi Frederic.dantz,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I tried kernel 2.6.34-999 amd64 with Karmic. I hop it's the one I was suppose to test.

All behaves exactly the same. Except that I couldn't check for audacious and kb3 as they weren't installed on the secondary disk used for this test.

I have the same problem with lucid 2.6.32-23. The drive will read
data CDs, but audio CDs are not recognized. This was not a
problem in Hardy and it isn't a problem when I dual boot to
another OS.
