Just for completeness:

since installing 12.04.1 server (adding fluxbox) the bug doesn't appear any more.

SW RAID5 with

SATA controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0 SATA Controller [AHCI mode]
