Bug Description

using radeon KMS I get jittery/ wavy output on the external monitor(photo). It seems like the DAC or something is not configured correctly. Booting with nomodeset resolves this issue. So I guess it is just some quirk missing in the kernel DRM.
Note that the logs were created while booted with nomodeset.

problem fixed with linux 2.6.34-rc3. So it should be not an issue with maverick any more. But maybe you still want to backport the fix for lucid.

I have a Samsung R530 new laptop with the intel core i3 (integrated graphics) and experience the external vga port wobble too. Have commented on here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/539350 and here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/562138/comments/42

Am today running the 2.6.34-020634rc6-generic kernel and still seeing the same problem.

Seeing this problem on kernel 2.6.32-23-generic #37~pre201006041000 as well (-23 pre-proposed from kernel-ppa), so not fixed there. External monitor through RGB port is unusable with KMS (wavy picture). Tested with 32' LCD TV (type, frequency and resolution are all correctly detected). ATI X1400 mobile.

As noted by the original bug reporter, this issue was noted as being resolved with the 2.6.34-rc3 mainline kernel. The actively developed Maverick kernel is currently based on the latest 2.6.35-rc5 mainline kernel, this this issue should no longer be an issue for Maverick. As a result, I'm marking this Fix Released. If a specific patch can be isolated to be considered for backporting to Lucid, this could possibly be considered for a Stable Release Update to Lucid, but that depends solely on the nature of the patch. If anyone else is still experiencing issues with the latest Maverick kernel, please open a new bug. Thanks.
