Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-backports-modules-nouveau-lucid-generic

Installed test case: Alternate Encrypted LVM Drive
Link: http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/AlternateEncryptedLvm

After install completed successfully went to boot fresh install.

Screen went blank. Since the screen was blank could not see text required to proceed with boot.

It requires the passphrase for the encrypted root partition to be entered.

Once gdm started display worked again.

Installed Nvidia property drivers:

package nvidia-current

verision number: 195.36.03-0ubuntu1(lucid)

video card information: 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G80 [GeForce 8800 GTS] (rev a2)

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue.

If this bug really is a bug in the linux-meta package you can move it back to linux-meta and tag it kj-linux-meta, or contact us on the #ubuntu-kernel channel on the FreeNode IRC server. Thanks.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Can we confirm that this issue appears with the released version of Lucid? I see in the report that this was back with the original Nouveau LBM backport which has since been replaced. Thanks.

I can help with this. Nouveau is nvidia and that is on my desktop. Are we
looking at 10.10 or 11.04.

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

I am interested in any testing with 10.04 LTS, 10.10 or indeed 11.04 pre-releases. Any information on where this issue exists or is fixed is valuable.
