Bug Description

SRU Justification/Impact:
The 2.6.31.12 upstream stable patch set is now available. It should also be included in the Ubuntu kernel.
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream either by originating directly from Linus' tree or by being minimally backported from some patch in Linus' tree.

TEST CASE: TBD

http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.31.12
http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/patch-2.6.31.12.bz2

The 2.6.31.12 Upstream Stable Kernel brings in the following 14 patches:

* fasync: split 'fasync_helper()' into separate add/remove functions
* hwmon: (adt7462) Fix pin 28 monitoring
* kernel/signal.c: fix kernel information leak with print-fatal-signals=1
* netfilter: ebtables: enforce CAP_NET_ADMIN
* netfilter: nf_ct_ftp: fix out of bounds read in update_nl_seq()
* quota: Fix dquot_transfer for filesystems different from ext4
* fix braindamage in audit_tree.c untag_chunk()
* fix more leaks in audit_tree.c tag_chunk()
* ipv6: skb_dst() can be NULL in ipv6_hop_jumbo().
* ACPI: sleep: another HP DMI entry for init_set_sci_en_on_resume
* ACPI: add DMI entry for SCI_EN resume quirk on HP dv4
* ACPI: sleep: another HP/Compaq DMI entries for init_set_sci_en_on_resume
* ACPI: DMI init_set_sci_en_on_resume for HP-Compaq C700
* Linux 2.6.31.12

We also include two excluded patches from 2.6.31.10 which caused a regression, the fix of which is available in this patchset.
* quota: decouple fs reserved space from quota reservation
* ext4: Convert to generic reserved quota's space management.
The regression caused by the above two patches is fixed by "quota: Fix dquot_transfer for filesystems different from ext4"

Hello, but...

is it really RELEASED? Nothing on karmic-updates, -proposed, launchpad build farm yet. Kernel queue ubuntu-karmic shows the entry but it seems they're still working on something more.

Changing status to COMMITTED, o.k.?

Accepted linux into karmic-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

I agree with comment #3, no flaws here, huawei hsdpa modem recoveries o.k., dvb-t o.k., so please move 2.6.31-21.59 from proposed to updates to get ready for next round, ...31.13 is out on kernel.org.
