Bug Description

Hello,
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Toshiba Tecra S5 labtop and an Nvidia Quadro NVS GFX.

The problem is when I suspend my computer it lights up a VERY dimm light and does nothing. CPU fan seems to comeback as well as the hard drive (from the sounds I hear at least).

I have search millions of forums but found no answer.

Hibernate works fine.

This is very important since I am deciding between many linux distributions to integrate on the labtops we sell to customers and ofcourse suspend funcionality is a must.

Please provide me some guidance,
Best regards,

Any news?
I just discovered something interesting.

1. I plugged a second monitor do my labtop (my TV) to watch a movie.
2. After it ended i closed the lid suspending my labtop.
3. A few hours later i detached it from the TV (still suspended) and plugged it into the AC Power.
4.When i opened the lid...it resumed!!!

I went to the Nvidia configuration utility and noticed it still assumed the TV as second monitor.

Clicked suspend again from the gnome menu...when I clicked a key...resumed properly again!!

After that i logged out..to assume again the single monitor..and when i tried again the suspend stopped working..

Dont know if that helps...
Best regards,

For what it is worth, in Lucid (10.04) Toshiba Tecra S5 suspends and resumes without any tweaks using nouveau.

For nvidia-current (195.36.15), I modified "/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/98video-quirk-db-handler" and added "--quirk-s3-mode" and "--quirk-s3-bios" to "elif using_nvidia" and "elif have_nvidia_g80" sections. Without those quirks, this machine (despite the Quadro NVS 130M being G80 class hardware) would not resume from suspend.

I attached the modified file as well.

Also, i think this should be assigned to pm-utils, as it seems trivial to fix.
