Bug Description
Resume from hibernation failed. After startup, Apport indicated a serious kernel problem, exactly as it did for Bug #485108 and Bug #488673 (in the latter, the same window can be seen in attached screenshot, called: Kernel problem screenshot). Can anyone please confirm they all share the same root cause? Is there any foreseeable fix, in the future?
I cannot suspend/hibernate or resume anymore, after installing Karmic, and I really need it for work, for I cannot shut down/boot up my machine every day for a number of applications need to stay open and be up and running when I resume my previous session. This is a major regression, it substantially impairs the system reliability for production use.
I lost some important data I was working on, this time. This is becoming seriously unpleasant...
ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous hibernate and prevented it from resuming properly.

Hi lelamal,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 493505
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
