Bug Description
Hardware info:
Acer Aspire One Netbook D150
Ubuntu 9.10 with XFCE desktop.
Reproducing the bug:
1.) Run the netbook in battery power.
2.) When the brightness is increased using the hotkey __repeatedly__ even after full brightness, the screen blacks out and the netbook goes into suspend mode and resets itself to 50% brightness.

The system was suspended 20 minutes into the 9.10 update download since the suspend setting was not deactivated during the distribution update(!).
I then resumed the system and download and continued with the upgrade. Now I have a somewhat broken system (xubuntu boot splash instead of the normal splash) and a high number of crash reports to submit.
