Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic

I must write acpi=off to boot properly or remove video module (video.ko).
When I debug problem I saw message with something bad with LNXVIDEO.
I've read propably the solution is here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=513680
and here
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=23269
Can you include this patch in next kernel-image release?

Hi, same problem here.
Thank you for adding this patch in the next kernel-image release as acpi=off removes lots of functionality from the laptop (battery information, volume knob usage, automatic shutdown and more).

Hi, just tested the patch by recompiling the kernel from linux-source and it solves the problem.
However on my drivers/acpi/pci_root.c the patch had to be added at lines 401 instead of 386. The new kernel boots perfectly without acpi=off.

Also affects Jaunty kernel version 2.6.27

I'm not sure if Jaunty is affected by this. I do have a toshiba X200. I didn't observe the bug on Intrepid and Jaunty. With Karmic, the bug exists. The patch fixes it for me, too. *Please* add the kernel patch for the next linux-image!

Thanks, Uli

Hi All, I also have the same problem on a Toshiba X205-9810. only a minor improvement with acpi off but overall, unusable.

I have a similar problem with a Toshiba satellite pro U400-182. 9.04 worked pretty well, but after upgrade to 9.10 I lost both ethernet and wireless devices. I can use them by using grub acpi=off. Both linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic and linux-image-2.6.31-15-generic

Same problem here for Toshiba A200 laptop.
All fine in 9.04, but booting in 9.10 takes ages (it does boot if you are patient and also keep waiting at the prompt).
For some reason it will shut down after some time.

Can anyone please fixt the next kernel release and release it ASAP?
Thanks.

Hello!
Kernel 2.6.31-17-generic + Toshiba P200-1J6, no more problem!
The new kernel boots perfectly without acpi=off.
LCD brightness now works!
