System is AMD64, Ubuntu 9.10.
I manually suspended to RAM from GNOME. Afterwards, system would not wake up and required hard restart. System gave kernel error warnings after logging into KDE.

Please continue to track this issue at that report. Note that this is just a harmless warning.
