I have what seems to be the same problem on my Acer Aspire One AOA110, and it shuts me down intermittently almost every day. My system log fills up with messages like the ones in the attachment. They are being added so fast that the system slows down to a near halt; the network is completely inaccessible.

I'm mostly writing to increase the visibility of this bug: seeing my main problem assigned to "nobody" is disconcerting. Thanks to whoever picks up this issue.

Hi Philip

My name is Mariano.

There is a long time dont receive similar errors, i remember i had updated
kernel, mine is:

mrn@mrn-one:~$ uname -a
Linux mrn-one 2.6.31-15-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 10 14:54:29 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version from acer:

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_110/bios/

Anyway the errors in my case doesnt were everyday, just sometimes.

Best regards

Thanks, Mariano.

My kernel is up to date. "uname -a" returns
  Linux min 2.6.31-17-generic #54-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 10 16:20:31 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

My BIOS when reporting the bug was version 3309, which matches the newest one on the acer-euro
site you link to. Other acer sites offer an even newer one (3310), which I installed just now. However,
the release notes and internet commentary about BIOS 3310 suggest that it makes changes only
to subsystems that do not affect wireless. I will write back with a status update after using the fresh
BIOS for a day or so.

Thanks again.

antesdelalba, thank you for taking a moment to contribute to this bug report. I see that you are not running the most up-to-date kernel. Could you please check your update manager to make sure that your computer is fully updated? Also note that while most updates do not require reboots, kernel updates do require reboots for them to take effect.

If this error occurs again with the latest updates, please resubmit the kernel log.

NickThweatt,
Can you confirm this behavior in the latest Lucid Alpha 3? I see from kingbob that he has seen the issue disappear in 2.6.31.

kingbob,
Would you mind verifying via live image that this is still the case for the current Lucid Alpha or daily?

HELLO everyone, i m so new to linux, and i hope i can learn more of how to fix this kernel errors...it started the red notifiacation on top of the bar and saying the computer is having kernel problem, so i clicked on it and report and ended up here...

it started after firefox browser said "your computer should be shut down now, and restart", so i did, and when restarted, the red warning notification started appeared...

i came from the mac OSX 10.5 background, and did know how to fix kernel attack on mac, but just really a newbie (totally not even comfortable to use terminal...)

and would love to learn from everyone here to fix this problem together and get into linux ...
