I am also having problems with USB devices on my EEEPC 1000HE. Below is an example of a Sanza Fuse 8G MP3 Player, but also get same results with generic USB pendrives. I've tried using "update-pciids" and "update-usbids" hoping it might help. It appears that because the device is not enumerated, karmic has no idea what the device(s) are and fails to mount them.

This is a problem for me on UNR Karmic Koala lpia on a Dell mini 10. (I'm using Vanilla Ubuntu, not Dell buntu).

I upgraded from Jaunty, this wasn't a fresh install.

Mine was a fresh install of Alpha6 and is currently up to date on my EEEPC 1000HE. I plan on doing a fresh install when the RC candidate appears and see if that solves the problem.

I had a similar problem where USB devices would not be recognized on boot-up and I had to replug them in. The solution to that problem is here:

I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. In 9.04, all usb devices auto mount. In 9.10, the devices are recognized (my mouse works fine), lsusb shows the thumbdrive, but automount doesn't happen. Manual mounting works fine.

I did a clean install on my wife's computer of 9.10 and it automounts thumb drives with no problem.

Same as William. Upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and now thumb drives (and my external hard drive and my camera) don't auto mount. I'm able to manually mount them but this is not ideal and in fact a step backwards.

Karmic Koala 64bit.

Hi intruder,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 442628

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
