Bug Description
Binary package hint: linux-image-
3. generation Atheros based wireless adapters delivered with later ThinkPad models do not work or deliver extreme low bandwidth with the ath5k kernel module. In Jaunty the adaptors do work with the restricted ath_pci kernel module, which is not avalible at present time for Karmic.
Using the ath5k module with a Cisco atheros AR5211 based PCMCIA adapter under the same installation, gives the same bad performance. Opposit using a Netgear AR5212 based works flawlessly.
The hardware ID for this Thinkpad adapter is:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC [168c:1014] (rev 01)

A quit similar bug has earlier been reported as bug #276508 for Intrepid too, but no one seems to bother changing the title from Intrepid even though I've added information for Karmic too.
