I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on Dell Vostro 1014
i am having trouble with sound
laptop speakers still make sound after plugging in the headphone.
any help will be appreciated.
am gone through various posts made earlier but no success.
plz help

There are hundreds of laptops and motherboards out there and every one of them seems to need its own particular option added to the /etc/modprobe. d/alsa- base.conf file to operate properly.

To use the database, find the make and model of your machine and then open the alsa-base.conf file as root so you can edit it
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe. d/alsa- base.conf
post #22 of that thread is a user with a Dell Vostro. Adding the following to the end of his alsa-base.conf file worked for him.
options snd-hda-intel model=dell
Also look for someone who might have the same card on a different laptop.
