Does Karmic boot faster than Jaunty in your laptops? In mine (5050) is very slow. Jaunty flies compared with Karmic. I hope they fix this thing.

I'm thinking about a bios upgrade, maybe a newer bios version is supported.

Can you confirm this issue exists with the most recent Karmic Koala 9.10 Alpha release? ISO CD images are available at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ . If the issue remains with Karmic it would be great to then also test the latest upstream mainline kernel available. This will allow additional upstream developers to examine this issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Thanks in advance.

It happens the same to me with Acer 5715z with the latest karmic Kernel. I could not try the latest upstream mainline kernel because of some errors in installing it.

With Karmic fully updated and Grub 1.97 beta 3 the same problem persists.

I was reading Jono Bacon's blog this morning. He was talking about the boot experience and how to report bugs on this topic so I decided to take a pic of my screen just like he said and here a the messages my PC is throwing at me.

More info at his blog:

I hope this helps you fix this and thank you!
