Bug Description

Boot from 9.04 Desktop LiveCD, it panic with black screen, and blink keyboard Caps Lock light, Scroll Lock light.
While switch to console by Alt+F1~Fx during boot process, I can see the loading process message, while panic the screen display many text message like this(write down just two lines of them):
[74.460632] [<f800c9e6>] acx_l_process_rxbuf+0x36/0x90 [acx]
[74.460632] [<f800ec06>] acx.pci_i_interrupt+0x20b/0x320 [acx]

And the system froze with above text message, keyborad Caps Lock light and Scroll Lock light keep blinking.

The D-Link DWL-520+ wireless PCI card use acx driver, it works fine with other Linux like Back Track 3 LiveCD.

It would be great if you could unplug the wireless PCI card and then try to boot Ubuntu.

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest Karmic 9.10 release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If the issue remains, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) while running Karmic. It
will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux 403932

Thanks in advance

It's not a problem with 9.10, I already tried it.

But also there's no support with acx driver with 9.10, I can't drive the D-Link DWL-520+ wireless PCI card with Ubuntu 9.10.
Did I miss anything?

Hi Sunry,

Now I'm a bit confused here.

You said that there's no problem with 9.10, but also you cannot use your 520+ card.

So does it work in 9.10 or not?

Please, can you type in a terminal

to know what kind of chipset does your card have?

lspci -v | less

However, here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsWirelessNetworkCardsDlink you can find all D-Link devices which should work out of the box.

Anyway, if you want to include the acx driver to the kernel, here you have a discussion http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/acx1xx.

Please, let us know.

It's my fail not explained clearly.

I mean the 9.10 can boot my machine without any problem, it wouldn't panic anymore, boot the machine out of problem.
But I can't locate any acx driver module in 9.10, there's acx driver exist in 9.04. So I thought 9.10 doesn't include acx driver in it's kernel modules.
