Oh, I'm sorry. The computer this was on recently broke, the processor fried.
The best I can do is give the specs to you...

AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ (Socket 939)
2GB (4 x 512MB, Twin Dual Channel) Corsair XMS Platinum Ram, DDR 400
nVidia nForce 4 Ultra Chipset
nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi
2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160GB SATA HDD's
1 x Western Digital Caviar (I don't know the model of this one) 500GB HDD

If there is any way I can help, please drop me a line. Again I'm sorry I
can't be of more help.

I am having similar problems on an smd64 karmic installation. I bought two new 1.5 TB Western Digital Caviar Green drives and they do not show up consistently under ubuntu. (One of the drives shows up sometimes at random). I am attaching the files you asked for.

Hi AceBlade,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 396738

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

For some reason on my lucid machine "apport-collect -p linux 396738" does not work. apport does not recognize the -p option. I did however run "apport-collect -p linux 396738". I will be testing the mainline kernel now. I am not the original reporter of the bug but am affected by it.
