Bug Description
I'm using the following hardware with the p54pci driver:
07:00.0 Network controller: Intersil Corporation ISL3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette]/ISL3886 [Prism Javelin/Prism Xbow] (rev 01)
The driver works fine in Managed mode, however, I am not able to assign the NIC a static IP address when it is in ad-hoc mode:
jacob@fledermaus:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.
wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

jacob@fledermaus:~$ sudo ifconfig wlan0 10.0.0.1
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not supported
This seems to directly trigger this message in syslog:
Jun 19 11:43:54 fledermaus kernel: [ 835.508113] p54pci 0000:07:00.0: firmware: requesting isl3886
And in dmesg:
[ 835.508113] p54pci 0000:07:00.0: firmware: requesting isl3886
This is in Jaunty.
