Bug Description

For some reason i keep getting a kernel oops message after I login into ubuntu (only very recently).
I've recently changed a lot of my configuration:
1. Changed / partition from jfs to ext3, changed /home to xfs.
2. Installed Virtual Box.
3. Installed a number of eye candy apps (screenlets, cairo-dock).
4. Built the new wl driver from Broadcom.

As you can see I also use the tainted NVIDIA driver and OSS 4.2,
Just to be clear- I'm not seeing any side affects to the kernel oops messages but I figure it'll show up sooner or later.

This issue stopped happening after upgrading to a newer kernel, how do I close this defect? :)

Hi smoohta,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 389041

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeremy,
The steps in your message are not applicable here because as I wrote earlier- the bug stopped happening after upgrading to a newer kernel.
Can the bug can just be closed as such?

Thanks!
