Bug Description
Karmic Testing.
xserver-xorg-core: 2:1.6.1.
xserver-xorg-intel: 2:2.7.99.
kernel: 2.6.30-9-generic
Intel 855 [8086:3582] (rev 02)
Enabling KMS via either "options i915 modeset=1" in /etc/modprobe.
Works fine without KMS.
NOTE: kernel: 2.6.30-8-generic works fine.

I seem to have the same problem. Running with KMS enabled + "edgers" xorg.
With kernel 2.6.30-8 I get the ubuntu logo at startup, then black screen, then the screen reappears at GDM login prompt.
With kernel 2.6.30-9 I get the ubuntu logo at startup, then black screen, then the computer seems to continue working for a while but the screen remains black.
