Bug Description

The Ubuntu kernel package appears to be currently shipping tp_smapi 0.37, but the tp-smapi-source package contains 0.40-3, which has (the part I care about) wider hardware support for HDAPS.
Would it be possible for us to ship this version in the kernel package?

Even better, use 0.40-4 that I uploaded yesterday to debian and that should hit ubuntu pretty soon.

Please use 0.40-5 if you update, -4 was faulty.

Looks like something just changed in today's kernel build from Andy.

" * drop thinkpad ec and smapi support"

A bit terse, and should have included a reference to Andy's link, above, so that people would have a clue as to what is going on.

According to Bug 297213 and related material, these aspects of Thinkpad support are being removed from the kernel over concerns regarding "an NDA that probably doesn't exist in the first place." It appears that Thinkpad users will have to go the DIY route (http://meandmyubuntu.blogspot.com/2009/05/getting-hdasp-to-work-on-jaunty.html).
