Bug Description
I'm using a ZTE MF637 3G modem and I can successfully connect to the Internet with it.
Sometimes, when I unplug the modem while it is connected to the network, the system freezes leaving me with CapsLock and ScrollLock leds bilnking. A hard reset is the only thing that works.
It also happens that the kernel panics without unplugging the modem. The driver used for this device is "option". These crashes used to occur in Jaunty even more frequently.
I use the usb-modeswitch package to automatically switch the device from CD-ROM mode to modem mode.
Usually, there is nothing special in the logs before the system crashes, but tty8 keeps repeating hundreds of times:
...
No path for 19d2/0031 at 002/000.
...
My modem is shown by lsusb as:
$ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 017: ID 19d2:0031 ONDA Communication S.p.A.
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10
$ uname -r
2.6.30-8-generic

Ok, now it's time for some additional info.
Attaching syslog (contains 9 Oops), kern.log (9+3 oops), and other useful
system info.
All oops'es occurred when something went wrong with the modem: either NM
simply lost connection, or I unplugged the modem. Many of them did not cause a
system freeze, thus went unnoticed.
