Bug Description

I have a Toshiba L305 and the only way to detect the ac adapter being plugged or unplugged is with the omnibook kernel module that can be found here: http://omnibook.sourceforge.net/

At a minimum this package should be installable from the repository, but it would be best to include it out of the box since most users would just decide that Ubuntu sucks if their laptop needed this and they would just go back to Windows. This module is the only way to use the Fn screen brightness keys and more importantly is the only way to detect if the ac adapter is plugged in or not.

I'd love to see this merged into the kernel, but until that happens it must be included in Ubuntu seprately.

Please merge this kernel module.

I have a Toshiba L300D and the only way to get

a.) the fan
b.) the fn keys
c.) suspend/resume working

is with this module. So pretty please with sugar on top, merge this module. :)

Chris,
thanks for your update on this. Apologies for the oversight on this module. Due to the kernel being in freeze currently, this will likely not make it for Lucid release. I have added it to my list for review.

Thanks!

I see omnibook.ko on freshly installed Lucid.
But it's not detected and autoinserted.

Additionally, isn't it a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/45021 ?
