2009-04-28 10:04:33 Andrew description Having downloaded the iso for 9.04, the cd boots but will not run. The "Loading, please wait" comes up, but it goes no further. I have waited for over 1 hour but no progress. This message comes up whether I chose install or run from disk, or check disk. The only peculiar and possibly useful clue I can offer is that this behaviour happens only one one pc, on my other pc the disk works fine!? The two pcs are almost identical, one runs an Asus ASUS P5VD2-VM DH while the other runs a ASUS P5VD2-MX SE, both have the same memory. I swapped both the optical drive and the cable in order to eliminate these as source of the problem. ( To install onto the hdd I simply moved the hdd over to the pc where the cd worked for the install and back to the other one for use. ) Before doing this I did an update on the pc from 8.10 to 9.04, but had a similar problem in that it would not boot. However, there was a notification message about needing to do something with lilo once the upgrade was complete. I checked the forums and it seemed as if lilo was a problem in a previous install that should not affect 9.04, so I took no notice of it, but this is an alternate possible problem that might have been causing the update not to function. None of this is reported using ubuntu-bug -p linux as there is no running installation with the problem. Hope this helps. Having downloaded the iso for 9.04, the cd boots but will not run. The "Loading, please wait" comes up, but it goes no further. I have waited for over 1 hour but no progress. This message comes up whether I chose install or run from disk, or check disk. This bug has now been traced to a hardware problem and is resolved by changing the faulty hardware.
