2.6.28 Kernel would not install during 9.04 upgrade - package linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic 2.6.28-11.42 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 3

In the Ubuntu 8.10 Update Manager, I clicked the button to upgrade to 9.04. During the upgrade process, it was reported that the 2.6.28 Kernel failed to install properly.
