I made upgrade from jaunty beta version to (it seems) the jaunty final release. After rebooting, I have a notification saying "package linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic 2.6.28-11.42 failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus post-installation script a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 2" or something like that.

I don't have more info and the possible consequences : I am a newbie : \

the problem bigan at the update to jaunty (report yesterday, and now when I try to reinstall. ( arch i386 & linux 2.6.28.11.15 )
the only pb I know is the compatibility wiht the graphic card intel 845.

It work afert a total supression of all pakages linux 2.6.28 and a réinstall by the pakage linux.

It may comme from a disk pb, but after a disk chek by using a live CD (and a réparation of errors found) the problem stell présent. I don't know more.

Sorry, but I don't understand what I have to do or try. And I have many difficulties to understand how launchpad works and how works this bug report system.

I think the problem still on my ubuntu because when I try to use apt-get or Synaptic I have the following message (with compiz for example) :

# sudo apt-get install compiz

The issue is that update-grub could not be found? Is it indeed missing?

I can't find any file containing "grub" in all of these directories ('/bin', '/sbin', '/usr/bin', '/usr/sbin').

About grub : I have installed gfxgrub (and theme) and deleted some items of the boot menu from the file /boot/grub/menu.lst before updating to Jaunty.

Hm it was not gfxgrub but gfxboot indeed. I have uninstalled it, then installed back grub and ... it seems all works fine now :)

So, gfxboot disallow system upgrades (kernel upgrades, is it right ?) ?

Bug is solved, but i don't know exactly his reason. This question still unanswered : gfxboot disallow system upgrades ?
