Bug Description

When I plug in my Sandisk Sansa Express mp3 player the 1G internal storage is detected but not the 2G Sandisk MicroSD card.

But when I put the card in a SD card adapter and use it in the card reader in my laptop it mounts fine and I am able to copy files to and delete from it.

Attached is dmesg after plugging the player in with the card inside it.

The device is normally recognized as sdc1 on previous releases but this is not in /dev.

I also have the exact same problem on a Gateway M6862 laptop using Jaunty. Let me know if there is any info that I can provide from my machine that could help, I just don't know what to post.

I spoke too soon.
It worked that one time when I last posted and has not since.
I tested on 2.6.28-11 and 2.6.28-12. It failed on both.

I also confirm this problem. My player is a Sansa Express 1GB with an 8GB micro SDHC card plugged into. I have two updated Ubuntu boxes: an Intrepid desktop and a Jaunt HP Mini-9 laptop. The former can mount and access without troubles the two volumes (the 1GB internal and the 8GB card), but the last can't even mount only the card. Follow it's dmesg:

I can mount and access the SDHC card with a USB card reader adapter in both computers.

After several hours of Internet research, I discovered this is a gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor Gnome utility issue. So, I registered it in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=586778

Let's wait for a solution. :-)

I have upgraded to v9.10 of Ubuntu and this is no longer a problem. A device file is made for the SD card when I plug it in and I can mount it normally.

Thanks

Same here. With a SanDisk MicroSD reader. I tried an 8GB and an 16GB MSD. There are however 3 new entries under /dev/: /sdd; /sdd1 and /SG4. It was possible to manual mount /sdd1 (first one I tried). Have to work out how to access without root access though. :-))

I also own a Sansa Sandisk Express (2GB) which when plugged in (w/o Rhythmbox running), the microSD is not detected.

Moreover, when rhythmbox is launched, the device is unmounted (& shows "Reading" only) from my desktop & an error occurs saying: "Media player device error: Unable to mount the SanDisk Sansa Express device" :S

Guys,

First, let me corret my notebook info: I have a Dell Mini 9, not a HP one... My fault!

I upgraded my desktop and notebook to Ubuntu 10.10, then they stopped to see lhe Sansa microSD card again. They can see just the Sansa internal memory, as I stated above. The same occurs with my desktop. The dmesg log is the same.

Any ideias?
