Had the same issue as well (when using BIOS version 1.1.4) and the following configuration:
rvdzwet@bunty:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10
Codename: karmic
rvdzwet@bunty:~$ uname -a
Linux bunty 2.6.31-11-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 2 11:06:40 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Updated by BIOS version 1.1.11 and the problem was fixed
