Bug Description

This has never worked properly for me.

Here is the output of my alsa-info.sh:

http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=fc8e2ee657e3738c582b394f990bd5463a14cd09

I'd be happy to help test or provide any new information!

Installed a fresh copy of Jaunty beta on my machine, with no updates except for the installation of the nvidia driver.

Fresh alsa-info.sh output here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=03d229143b86b0328b0e3ece8426099e5348dc53

To make sound come out of the headphones, I must go into gnome-volume-control and unmute "Surround" (this has to first be added via Preferences > check the Surround box).

To turn off the internal speakers, I have to mute "Front" in gnome-volume-control.

The "Headphone" checkbox in the "Switches" tab has no effect on headphone playback.

I'd be happy to do whatever needs to be done to resolve this issue, thanks!

I have the same issue (and same steps solved it, thanks Youssuff) on Asus 2930.

Please solve this issue, it's really annoying to search the web for hours to find a workaround.

Thanks Asif, your steps sure provide a temporary solution. Have been struggling for the past hour on this. I have the Acer aspire 4530-6823.

Everyone,

Have you search in ubuntu forum?

The workaround is simple.

Just add "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" to alsa-base.conf and restart.

Still an issue with a fully updated karmic install. Any PPA for ALSA that I should try out?
