This prevents using SAS disks with Ubuntu jaunty. This driver is included in a number of motherboards (in one case an ASAS P5N64), and is required both for installation and running Ubuntu. A patch has been submitted to fix this for Jaunty, and this is for a similar patch to Karmic.
