This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest Karmic 9.10 release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If the issue remains, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) while running Karmic. It
will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux 353833

Thanks in advance

I ran the script again,

this time, the first test fails to have any results.

The second test turns off my monitor, and sound, but my machine is clearly still running. The only way to bring it back to a usable state is to hold the power button until it shuts off and then boot again.

So, I don't know if I still have this issue or not.

Whats the next step?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your help.

Please, could you install 2.6.32 kernel, latest version, upstream of Lucid?

You can found it in http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32/

Thanks in advance.

I installed the kernel mentioned above. Same results for the testing script.

It may not be immediately apparent, but the kernel associated with the attachments above was one I compiled myself, based off of the official ubuntu kernel. I made sure to test with the official 31-16 as well as 31-17, all with the same results.

Should I attach stuff from the 2.6.32 kernel?

Hi Michael,

Since you can manually suspend your machine, following this information,

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting/Feedback

this bug, seems to be a duplicate of this bug #307090.

Note the Andy's comment:

"AndyWhitcroft: does it resume if you request it do so by hand? If so then this is an acpi wakeup issue. See bug 307090 in Launchpad as well as the upstream bug 120132

I'm going to mark it as such.

I'm not sure that its correct to say that I can manually suspend my machine.
When I issue the suspend command, my monitor and sound turn off, but my
machine is clearly still running. When I suspend with heavy programs
running, the cpu fan continues to output a lot of heat, as if it were still
running the calculations.

But I can't really say either way *shrug*. I'm not familiar with how the
suspend functionality works.
