Bug Description

# lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04

Kernel: 2.6.28-11-generic

Ran "/usr/share/checkbox/scripts/suspend_test --full" as root. The laptop ran through the full set of suspend/resume tests perfectly, EXCEPT that the timed resume never triggered. Manual resume was fine.

If I manually try to set a resume timer, here's what I see:

root@ayaki:~# echo 0 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
root@ayaki:~# echo `date '+%s' -d '+ 20 minutes'` > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm
root@ayaki:~# cat /proc/driver/rtc
rtc_time : 20:42:43
rtc_date : 2009-04-01
alrm_time : 20:47:39
alrm_date : ****-**-01
alarm_IRQ : no
alrm_pending : no
24hr : yes
periodic_IRQ : no
update_IRQ : no
HPET_emulated : no
DST_enable : no
periodic_freq : 1024
batt_status : okay

Attached output of dmidecode & acpidump.

Note, also, that the 1330 auto-resumes when the lid is opened.

adding "hpet=disable" to the kernel command line does not affect this issue.

Same issue for a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Nvidia 7300.
"hpet=disable" made no difference.
Also auto-resumes on lid open.

Actually, not an issue with my (Dell Inspiron 1525) laptop. When running suspend_test, I noticed that when running cat /proc/driver/rtc, the alarm time was set to four hours in the future, which would be the time in GMT (I'm on the US East Coast, GMT-4). Modifying the time variable in setup_wakeup_timer() in the suspend_test script to subtract four hours (time=`date '+%s' -d "+ $timeout seconds - 4 hours"`) caused all tests to pass successfully, without needing to manually resume.

Most likely a shortcoming of the script, closing.

Changed in linux (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
