Bug Description

I want to help with this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting

I hope apport will add all kernel-related info.

Thinkpad R51e suspend OK, but after resume only "PC410MD 300/14 TEST BR#14689" is showed on the console screen and I must manually switch off the whole compupter. After switching on the screen is still black, I must remove battery and then I can boot...

I remember it works much better about Ubuntu 6.06, maybe the open-source ati driver? (ati X200M).

I tried several pm-suspend quirks, sometimes it even suspend&resume OK, but on the second run there is the same problem.

i am sorry this is my first bug, I will add any info when needed.

I tried openSUSE 11.1 and pm-suspend works. pm-suspend in SUSE first switch to console (chvt?) and then suspend... I tried it in Ubuntu and it does not work.

Should I provide some files?

Thanks!

I tried Fedora 11 (17 days to final) and it does not work.

I tried Debian testing and it works. Maybe tuxonice?

I also tried deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tuxonice/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main, but after resume system is unstable (something line this http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/system-unstable-after-resume-from-suspend-719718/ - I tried CLOCK setting) - segfaults and so on.

I tried pm-suspend and hibernate script - the same result.

Suspend worked in Debian, but there was no 3D acceleration (old xorg), so I upgraded to xorg from unstable and suspend stopped to work.

So, I tried suspend on Ubuntu 8.10 with this in xorg:

Option "NoAccel" "off"
Option "RenderAccel" "on"
Option "DRI" "off"
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"

And suspend works! I am convinced it is (open-source) radeon bug.
