Bug Description

The acer aspire one's media card reader is not exposed at first boot. When a media card is inserted, the device appears.
In older releases, the pciehp module would discover the device being enabled. In jaunty, this is no longer the case.

In order to get the sd card slots working, the laptop must be booted _with_ an sd card inserted for the pci device to be visible.

This is running jaunty alpha 5 with today's updates.

sd card in either slot doesn't automount and cannot read whether booted with or without card.

Jaunty beta. All updates to 2000h GMT.

Left-hand card reader shows media in duplicate (right-hand menu) with no unmount icon. Of these, only one instance 'works' i.e. opens nautilus.

Right-hand card reader still not hot-pluggable, most be booted with card in situ. BUT only single menu item on menu and unmount icon is present.

All three USB ports hot-pluggable.

My Acer ONE will not read media cards either. If I reboot to the earlier edition they will work. Neither of the card readers will work with the latest Jaunty 9.04 (2009-04-23) I assume that I now have the regular Jaunty as I unpgraded from the Beta this morning.

Just noticed this bug while downloading the Jaunty netbook remix.
I'd like to point out that I had this same problem on my AspireOne under Fedora 10.
I fixed the issue by forcing the loading of the 'pcihp' module on bootup, my thread on the fedora forum is at http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=209439

Don't know if this Ubuntu issue is the exact same issue as I haven't installed Jaunty yet but hope it helps.

Forcing the pciehp module to load isn't a solution in Jaunty, as it's not a module anymore:

jms@osc-bigmac:~$ grep HOTPLUG_PCI_PCIE /boot/config-2.6.28-11-generic
CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_PCIE=y
