Bug Description

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with all linux derivates so far... ophcrack, knoppix, openSuSE, kanotix, DSLinux, ubuntu(7.10, 8.04, 8.10).

While booting/instaling the system freezes with capslock blinking when trying to load hardware drivers.

Booting is no problem with noapic or nolapic, although with nolapic the network doesn't work.

When openSuSE/ubuntu (7.10, 8.04, 8.10) runs, there are random (no specific applications) lockups with capslock blinking, showing no reaction to any key.

I tryied linux kernel 2.6.27-7/-9/-11/-12-generic and 2.6.25-2-386, always the same problem(s)

My computer: Acer Aspire 5610, BIOS v3.60, Intel Centrino Duo Core T2050 @ 1,6 GHz, Intel 945PM/GM express-chipset, intel PRO/wireless 3945ABG Wi-Fi CERTIFIED, nVidia Geforce Go 7300, HD 120 GB SATA.

Hi timo,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 332186

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

The problem indeed seems to be fixed by latest kernel versions... no more panics whatsoever!

Thanks a lot!
