Bug Description

I am having the exact same problem as in this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/270643 and maybe related to this one https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/296610 .
Since the other first one is marked closed I am reopening this one. The touchpad is still not recognized by X.org :

cat /proc/bus/input/devices give me these:

I: Bus=0017 Vendor=0001 Product=0001 Version=0100
N: Name="Macintosh mouse button emulation"
P: Phys=
S: Sysfs=/devices/virtual/input/input0
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse0 event0
B: EV=7
B: KEY=70000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: REL=3

I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0001 Version=0000
N: Name="PS/2 Generic Mouse"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input12
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse1 event9
B: EV=7
B: KEY=70000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: REL=3

I am running Intrepid on the Latitude E6400, all updates and upgrades done, kernel 2.6.27-11-generic (2.6.27-11.27)
The touchpad is terribly slow, and I can't adjust the sensitivity since it's not recognized.
Also, the horizontal and vertical scrolling are not working.

Please fix it.
Thanks.

I confirm this bug for Toshiba Satellite Pro M10. In similar bugs, they suggest to add i8042.nomux=1 in the kernel boot options. For example, in grub, in /boot/grub/menu.lst:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.20-15-generic root=UUID=aee7eebe-02ba-428a-b90b-afa9aed6dbcd ro quiet i8042.nomux=1

This doesn't fix it for me though.

I opened bug in upstream and it got fixed, at least for Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 Alps Touchpad. The problem was that the signature for that particular Touchpad was not recognized. Attaching patch for kernel 2.6.29.1. Check http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13134 for more info.

Regards,

Pablo
