Yeah pls apply that patch!
It is very annoying to have ipmi sensors but there is no way to use them with Ubuntu.

IPMI has been around for years, it is also a big player on the new AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA systems. Most of the server grade system on the market support IPMI but relay on 3rd party apps to control and monitor the systems.

A patch was created several years ago to implement the ipmisensors module on the kernel, but this patch has not been added to the main source yet.

I think the server branch of ubuntu will benefit from having this patch added.

There is a git repo available for the latest version of the patch

Hi Tomasz,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 329012

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

This issue (wishlist) is still present in Natty.
For example, my HP Microserver offers only a subset of its sensors through lm_sensors.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 329012

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'.

This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

I have the same issue, can I do this? It says:

You are not the reporter of this problem report. It is much easier to mark a bug as a duplicate of another than to move your comments and attachments to a new bug.

Subsequently, we recommend that you file a new bug report using "apport-bug" and make a comment in this bug about the one you file.

Do you really want to proceed?

I've added my own apport-collect, and marked it a duplicate myself.

This should probably be "wishlist" priority.

(somewhat off-topic: I'm also wondering: why doesn't the author try to get his patches into mainline?)
