Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic

Always and reproducibly so, very early in the boot process, almost immediately after picking the kernel from the GRUB menu. It actually happens with the two earlier 2.6.27 kernel packages (linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic, linux-image-2.6.27.9-generic) in the same way (though exact trace output may vary).

I've attached the last screen full of output I get. I couldn't scroll upwards. I had to photograph my monitor and type it out manually, so I'll attach both formats of the trace in case I made an error. Please advise how to produce a more complete trace.

The D945GCLF2 is an "Intel Essentials Series" all-in-one Mini ITX board, with a CPU soldered on and integrated graphics. It's basically netbook hardware (i945GC/ICH7/RTL8111), but with a dual-core Atom 330. I'm using the latest "LF94510J.86A" official bios, tried reloading defaults, to no avail.

The system runs fine using the kernel from the linux-image-2.6.24-21-generic package, which I use as a workaround, but I fear this line may not be available anymore in future Ubuntu releases.

edited: title was wrong, The board has been a D945GCLF2 all along, I missed the L by some freak accident. Sorry.

Confirming that this problem affects me on an Intel D945GCLF2, a mini-ITX i945/ICH7 with a dual-core Atom 330. Kernel panics *immediately* after boot from 8.10 AMD64 install CD. (By "immediately", I mean that by the time my CRT finishes switching modes, I already have a stack trace on screeen - I never get to see the kernel initialize.)
This is the most similar bug I've found so far, in that my stack traces always end in the middle of some ordinary function, although never exactly the same spot twice! I can't even tell what version of kernel is trying to load from CD...

Confirming it happens also to me with a D945GCLF2 and 2.6.27-11.27 on early boot.

May have something in common with #279186?

I can confirm the issue was solved for me with Intel BIOS Update [LF94510J.86A] on a Intel® Desktop Board D945GCLF2
