Problems allocating ressources of PCI

Bug Description

Just before de boot splash, I am getting 3 warnings that looks like this :

Warning:PCI Cannot allocate resource region 7 of bridge
Warning:PCI Cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge
Warning: PCI Cannot allocate resource region 9 of bridge

with some numbers after.

I am using a ASUS Z71V laptop (http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=5&l2=70&l3=0&model=609&modelmenu=1).

I might suspect the MMC-SD-MS card reader.

This is only a warning; are you having any problems or only concerned about the message?

No real problem... tought at first it was why my card readers would not work but Michal pointed that it was a PCI express port...

So I guess i am just concerned about the message :)

On a Toshiba A105-S2101, I get this warning as well:

[17179571.292000] PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge 0000:00:07.0

It does not seem to cause any problems, it just doesn't look good when booting up. This warning has been present in Dapper, Edgy, and Feisty.

I get this message at boot up running Gutsy Gibbon on my Compaq c502us laptop. The kernel is 2.6.22-14-generic.

I've been having troubles getting my wireless to work, but it may be due to an improperly configured wireless router acting as a bridge connected to the main router.

Acer 1650 with Ati x300 128MB: same troubles while booting on Gutsy 7.10:

PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 7 of bridge 0000:00:1c.1

PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 7 of bridge 0000:00:1c.2
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge 0000:00:1c.2

"lspci" showed it's PCI Express related troubles;
Moreover, on 7.10 I get some other error messages related to APCI and a Bios Version not found or buggy....
MOREOVER I when booting from 7.10 I keep staying with a black screen for a looong time and then I boot in linux with no troubles...

It's noticeable that on 7.04 this never showed up!!!

Another incredible thing is that linux cds always give me a hard time to be installed... while I watch a Movie or Install Windows this never happens but when installing linux I am quite familiar with reading errors and things like that... strange :(...
I had to try several times with the same cds in order to install it! (PS: sorry for putting all this together.. if you consider some of the topics worth suggest me to write a new post and I will surely do so! :) Good night!

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this linux-source-2.6.15 kernel bug to the new "linux" package. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Also, if you would be interested in testing the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release, it is available at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Please let us know your results. Thanks!
