Bug Description

There is a new upstream version 0.5 available at
http://code.google.com/p/compcache.
It has performance improvements and lots of bug fixes, among them this critical system freeze
http://code.google.com/p/compcache/issues/detail?id=19.

It would be great if Jaunty could ship with the new version.

Jaunty Alpha3
linux-image-2.6.28-4-generic
Current compcache I believe is a patch for kernel 2.6.26.rc6 from last june.

Some user discussion went on here:

Compcache 0.5.3 is the latest version now. According to the changelog, there has been a lot of clean up done, statistics gathering has been added, a push for mainline has begun, and performance has improved.

I have upgraded the version on compcache to the latest version for Karmic and is now waiting on maintainer to integrate it in the next release. Marking this bug as incomplete until the maintainer has accepted the upgrade patch.
