Thanks. Could you please run memtest on this machine just to rule out a hardware issue, following the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MemoryTest?
If that is ok, then can you recall the last known working kernel? If you can, would you mind performing a git-bisect, using the following guide: http://www.kernel.org/doc/local/git-quick.html#bisect. You can get the Jaunty git tree from git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-jaunty.git |
