RTL8101E/RTL8102E not working under 2.6.27-11-generic

After upgrading from package linux-image-2.6.27-10-generic to package linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic my lan card (01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02)) is not working anymore. The module ist still loaded but no connectivity is available.

As a result the boot process takes ages and several services are not started (e.g. samba, cups, openvpn, etc.)

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 (with all available updates: intrepid-security, intrepid-updated, intrepid-proposed, intrepid-backports).
