no mic with Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and ubuntu and pulse audio

Bug Description

Hi,

I am cannot record anything, or carry on voip because the mic is not working with the sound blaster live 5.1 sound card.

I don't know if this issue is caused by pulse audio or what.

Please help.

Hi, thanks for posting this bug report. Unfortunately, it does not contain enough information to begin working on the problem. Please perform the following steps to further debug this problem:

1.) Run the command "lspci -v | grep --after-context=10 Audio >> ~/SoundLSPCI.txt" in the terminal.
2.) Run the command "uname -a >> ~/uname.txt" in the terminal.
3.) Attach the text files "SoundLSPCI.txt" and "uname.txt" to this bug report. Both files will be located in your home folder.

After you perform these steps, you can check out https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems for more suggestions on troubleshooting your problem. Thanks for taking the time to help make Ubuntu better!

Additional Info...

I had an xubuntu 8.04 LIVE CD and booted up with that. Sure enough the mic for the SB LIVE card works in that environment (I remember that it worked in my 8.04 ubuntu install before i did a fresh install of 8.10).

I booted up with the ubuntu 8.10 LIVE CD, am unable to record anything with the mic, our use it in any other applications.

No it was resolved with a fresh install of 9.04 and also works in a fresh install of 9.10.
