Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-headers-2.6.27-7-generic

1)
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10

2)
 I don't know who is causing this problem

3 & 4)
I don't know what is causing this problem, I copy 3 log's that have more than 5GB for file with information about this problem (kern.log.0 5.3GB, message.0 4.9GB and syslog.0 5.3GB). I copy this files in a external USB-HDD Drive because I suppose that you want to examine it, and I delete it from /var/log because if don't I can't use my laptop.

I found this problem with the 8.10 beta state but I think that it is a problem from the development version, but now in Final Release, the problem persist (from the day that it is released when I reinstall the new system to now, it work well, but eat all my free space in / partition).

I think that if more people have the same problem, a lot of new user from Ubuntu, can leave it because it isn't a god experience :P

If you want to see this logs files I can give you ssh access for read this files. I'm not using external repositories that can be are causing the problems. I don't know if you need more information, if you need more, contact me please.

I think yes, but I don't know, in my laptop is the third time that is
ocurred, 2 times in 8.10beta version, and the actually, in 8.10 final from
new installation.
I don't know what is causing this problem exactly and I don't know how give
you more specific information. But I want to do it. In Hardy Heron this
problem don't exists for me never.

* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

I only am using Ubuntu, and in few days, I see that I've different problems
and it consist that can read/write configuration, I see the free space in /
and it hasn't. 3 files in /var/log are 15GB from my space. All is
autodetected and autoconfigured without problems. I don't have external
drivers.

In "dmesg" appear:

[ 145.542082] type=1502 audit(1225961387.929:13):
operation="inode_permission" requested_mask="::r" denied_mask="::r" fsuid=7
name="/proc/6569/net/if_inet6" pid=6569 profile="/usr/sbin/cupsd"
[ 207.124053] __ratelimit: 3 callbacks suppressed
[ 207.124061] ACPI: EC: missing confirmations, switch off interrupt mode.
[ 207.640086] ACPI Exception (evregion-0419): AE_TIME, Returned by Handler

[ 207.640253] ACPI Exception (battery-0360): AE_TIME, Evaluating _BST
[20080609]

That never after appear anytime. Probably problems with wlan and ACPI? Is
probably that it constant log, increase the files up to 5GB anyone?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Hi Shawe,

To help rule out the possibility of the ACPI causing a logging loop, can you please follow the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI and attach the required information.

Thank you.

Shawe - Is it defaintely those messages flooding your log? The reason I ask is that there is another known kernel bug at the moment which is flooding logs, but it isn't caused by those messages. To rule out the possibility of you experiencing the same bug, could you please run the following two commands and tell me if you see any output:

grep -i "scheduling while atomic" /var/log/kern.log
grep -i "scheduling from the idle thread" /var/log/kern.log

Thanks

If I try to do:

cp -r /proc/acpi /tmp

tar -cvjf ~/acpi.tar.bz /tmp/acpi

I try to do it 3 times, and system always block itself.

My system results totally blocked and only can turn off, and turn on again.
I hibernate, and system results freeze, I only can turn off and turn on
again.
I suspend, and it work well, after I restart, and add the file kern.log,
kern.log.0 don't exits that are specified en DebuggingACPI.

I also must do the Trouble Booting?
