Bug Description
Binary package hint: cheese
In Ubuntu 8.10 final, Cheese may appear as failing to work for people with the "Bus 003 Device 002: ID 04f2:b018 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd Video Device" USB webcam. It displays nothing.
In reality, the issue is that it chooses a resolution too high by default. The resolution it should be using is 800x600. One higher than (1280x960) that results in very laggy and color corrupted video, and one above that (1600x1200, the max, and default) makes Cheese display nothing.
Apparently the driver shouldn't be reporting the two higher resolutions.
