Wifi seems to work on Dell Inspiron 1501 but WPA connection doesn't work

Bug Description

I just install Intreprid on laptop Dell Inspiron 1501, after update with proprietary drivers (Brodacom B43 wireless driver), wifi display in Network Manager but it is impossible to connect on Wifi WPA network.

I also use Ubuntu 8.10 on Dell Inspiron 1501, and this problem occurs sometimes.

and the WIFI function switch: Fn + F2 is invalid.

Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release - http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-9.04-desktop . Please let us know your results. Thanks.

I noticed the same behaviour.

just installed there i a connection with a wpa protected network, and after minutes the system falls, and it's impossible to connect again.

network manager or wicd have the same behaviour.

Confirm with Ubuntu 9.04 and all recent updates. I use wicd and Broadcom STA driver. All is fine if the network has no encryption, but with wpa connection fails. In wicd preferences I select wext driver, because wpa-supplicant seems to be compiled without STA driver support. I think It's the main problem.

Dunno if this is relevant here but, on my Dell Inspiron 1721, same thing happens. I can see th Access Points but, cannot connect with any type of WPA... just WEP keys.
