AK (andy12345) wrote : | #4 |
I have the same issue when using the update manager base on 8.04 installation originally from Live CD.
Btw, how can i upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 using 8.10 Live CD? Will the same problem occur?
Thanks.

To the others with this problem, I found a work around in the related Bug # 252900: https:/
I don't think this solves the core problem, but it allows you to install the update.

Sherri (developer-web) wrote : | #8 |
Scratch that. That work around is a BAD idea. It go progressively worse reporting more files as un backupable. Then it ran the 9.04 upgrade and killed the whole thing, Ubuntu won't boot now. I had to go back into XP and uninstall Ubuntu. Very disappointing.

Definitely not. An unloaded firearm is as useful as a brick. You carry with a round chambered. You do not carry off body.
You will not have time to draw a firearm and rack the slide if your life depended on it. Also what if your other arm was being used to fend off the attacker? Or incapacitated?
The safest way to carry a semiautomatic pistol is with a round chambered in a holster that properly covers the trigger guard while on your person.

I always wanted to see Poldi succeed at Arsenal, but he just doesn't fit. He works in a two striker system where he can sit around up top waiting to slam a ball in. Otherwise, he won't track back, he won't work hard, he just wants to poach and sit up top. Wish him the best where ever he ends up, but it'll never be a match made in heaven with Arsenal.

Geotech engineer here. The size of the firm you work for will make a big difference. I've had buddies in larger firms get pigeon holed into boring/repetitive cubicle work. I run a satellite office for a small consultant (35 employees total). I have about a 70/30 split between office and field work. Besides various PM duties, I do slope stability analysis, various MSE design, very basic pile design, field work (drilling, trench inspections), and lab stuff. The work is interesting, challenging, and I'm continuously learning. However, in my experience, small consultants pay less, the work loads can be nutty/cyclical, and the benefits aren't the greatest. So far it's been a great way to gain a broad range of experience quickly but I'll jump ship for a 'cushy' government job (highways, PM with bigger company) in couple years.
